21 days 20 Nights of birding and Gorilla tracking in Uganda National Parks
Take an immersive wildlife adventure in Uganda's pristine national parks. This 21-day tour offers participants the opportunity to explore the rich biodiversity of Uganda through birdwatching and gorilla tracking.
After arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will transfer to Victoria View Guest House overnight.
After morning breakfast, you will drive to Mabamba Bay, which is adjacent to Lake Victoria in search of the stunning Shoebill stork and other Bird species such as European marsh Harrier, African marsh Harrier, African Jacana, lesser Jacana, papyrus Gonolek, Yellow-billed Duck, Blue-cheeked Bee-eater, and many other bird species thereafter continue to Lake Mburo National park. Overnight. Rwakobo Rock.
After breakfast, you will go for a morning game drive around Lake Mburo National Park and listen to our Targeted bird species, including, The Red-faced Barbet, Black colored Barbet, tailed cisticola, Green-backed pytilia, Bare-faced Go-away-bird, many other species and in the afternoon do a boat cruise searching for the African Fin foot and overnight at Rwakobo Rock
After breakfast, you will transfer to Mgahinga National Park, which is located in the southwest of the Country and borders Rwanda and Congo. Overnight at Mucha Lodge
On this day, you will go birding in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. This day our target species will be mostly the Albertine rift endemic species, including, Rwenzori turaco, Rwenzori double-colored sunbird, Dusky crimsonwing, and many more, overnight at Mucha Lodge.
After breakfast, you will drive to Ruhija, which is part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. There will be a stopover around Echuya Forest Reserve for Birding before proceeding to Trekkers Tavern in Ruhija for overnight.
After breakfast, you will leave for a full day of Birding in the Mubwindi swamp. You will be targeting the Albertine endemic species that includes, the Grauers broadbill, which is only found here in East Africa. Searching for this bird is like looking for a green needle in green grass. Other targeted species include Rwenzori Batis, Regal sunbird, Rwenzori Apalis, Yellow-eyed black flycatcher, Grey chested Babbler, Doherty's Bush shrike, Lagdens Bush shrike a moong many other species. Overnight at Trekkers Taven.
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Bwindi, Buhoma sector. There will be a stopover at the "NECK" for Birding. This is a very interesting place for Birding as it has unique bird species such as Chapin's flycatcher, Black bee-eater, Colored Bush-shrike, Cassin's grey flycatcher, African Black Duck, and other species of birds. Overnight at Buhoma Haven Lodge.
After breakfast, you will for a full day of Birding on the Buhoma waterfall trail. This is the main Birding trail for Bwindi and your target species will be the Neumann's warbler, Jameson's antipecker, Willard's Boubou, Abyssinian Ground thrush, Oberlander’s ground thrush, and many more. Overnight at Haven Lodge.
After breakfast, you will leave with a packed lunch and visit the UWA head office for a Gorilla briefing before leaving to track the Gorillas. Dinner and overnight at the Haven Lodge.
After breakfast, you transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park for a game drive, searching for the tree-climbing lions and birds.
After breakfast, you will go for a boat cruise at the Kazinga channel doing birding and later continue to Fort Portal, which is a tourist city. Overnight at Mountains of the Moon.
After breakfast, you will drive to Semulike National Park, considered a bird Haven in the country. The park is adjacent to the Ituri forest of the Congo here we expect to see many bird species which are seldom seen in other East African countries Such as Orange Cheeked waxbill, Maxwell’s weaver, Red Billed Dwarf Hornbill, White-crested Hornbill, Yellow-footed flycatcher, Black Dwarf Hornbill, Grey-throated Rail, Nahans francolin and many others. Most of the species here come from West Africa. Overnight at Fort Portal Mountains of the moon.
After breakfast, transfer to Kibale National Park, which is home to the Chimpanzees. On your way, you stop along the road for Birding, and in the afternoon do the community birding in the Bigodi swamp. Dinner and overnight at Kibale Forest Lodge.
After breakfast, you will go for Chimpanzee tracking and Birding, in search of the Green-breasted pitta. overnight. Kibale Forest Lodge.
After breakfast, transfer to Masindi. There will be several stopovers for Birding. Overnight at Masindi Guest House.
After breakfast, you will drive to Budongo Royal Mile, which is a special area for birding. king Kabalega used to do Bird watching here, it's a royal place. Overnight at Masindi Guest House.
After breakfast, you will drive to Murchison Falls National Park, which is the largest National park in Uganda; you will do birding along the way. Dinner and Overnight at Pakuba Lodge.
After breakfast, on the second day, you will go for a game drive and Birding. In the afternoon, you will have a boat ride. Overnight at Pakuba Lodge.
After breakfast, you will drive to the top of the falls, which is the most powerful fall in the world, thereafter continue to Ziwa sanctuary for Rhino tracking, and after this, you will leave for Entebbe. Overnight at Victoria View guesthouse.
After breakfast, you will go birding at the Botanical Gardens in Entebbe, and in the afternoon, be transferred to the Airport for your flight back home.
